Hypnotherapy & Dream Work
Hypnosis can occur with our eyes open or closed. The same is true of dreams. Whether drifting into a daydream during a meeting or lecture (let’s hope it isn’t this one!) or asleep in bed, our subconscious minds are constantly presenting us with messages and material that may aid our growth and understanding—if only we understood the language.
Our dreams speak to us utilizing their native tongue: metaphor. The symbolism, situations, characters, dialogue and landscapes we encounter in our dreams can often seem obscure or meaningless. For this reason, many people shrug their shoulders and move on almost immediately. By day’s end, the dream has been all but forgotten.
Yet every dream we have is embedded with messages and meanings that are entirely subjective to the dreamer. Every object holds a story. Every character carries a message it is actively trying to convey. Our dreams are deeply personal and rich with meaning, yearning to be heard.
By utilizing therapeutic techniques such as regression to the dream and Gestalt therapy alongside hypnotherapy, we can begin to unravel the messages and meanings that have risen up from the subconscious. In doing so, it is as though we are returning a missed call from a once-hidden aspect of ourselves and finally hearing what it has been trying to say. This insight can deepen both personal understanding and therapeutic practice.
